My first XC race was in 1995 just north of Lodi, California, near where I graduated from high school. From 1995-01, my involvement in racing was strictly as an athlete, winning 4 State Championships in downhill and finishing respectively in many XC NORBA races throughout that time. From 1998-2000, I started a mountain bike team, BigMaxx, with a limited budget. We grew to have 40 riders across 4 countries (USA, Canada, Mexico, and Japan) with many out-of-industry sponsors in nutrition and fitness.
In 2001, I moved away from competitive riding and focused on my career in hospitality and finance until 2010 when I began to ride more frequently. In 2017, I started down the path of coaching. I joined the United States Olympic Foundation, started my own coaching business, MTBCornering San Diego, was nominated for Coach of the Year through USACycling, became a state-certified Teacher/ Coach, completed my first BICP II Certification, plus many more certifications for backcountry adventure riding, joined the Board of Ride Krew, and Co-Founded BikesOnline Racing as the VP of Athlete Development.
Today, I volunteer in the community and coach mountain biking.
