An introductory course available online or in person for those wanting to assist at home deliveries.
You will gather basic skills and knowledge to assist the primary midwife during labor, birth and after delivery.
Perfect for aspiring midwives in the doula role, birth center employees or assistant midwives.
Level 1: Three 2 -hour courses to prepare for Level 2 which offers more in depth practical skills and knowledge, including: Assessing vitals, Fetal Heart Tones, Positions for Birth, Gloving & Un-gloving; Vaginal Examinations and Consent; Drawing & Charting medications; Setting up an Oxygen tank/maks and settings; Sterile field/Sterilization of tools & Equipment; Labor Support; Emergencies & transport; The immediate post partum; mother baby love; breastfeeding.
Level 1 includes:
Class 1: Midwifery: With Woman. The differences in midwife certifications, standards and scopes of practice, HIPAA in Midwifery, Appropriateness for the assistant midwife: respecting the family, the midwife and yourself. Cultural Diversity and Inclusions. Resources for expanded knowledge and handouts given.
Class 2: Handwashing; Waterbirth discussion; Signs and Symptoms of Labor: When to call the midwife; Fetal positioning; Cardinal movements of Birth and the pelvis; Resources for expanded knowledge and handouts given.
Class 3: Terminology, Abbreviations and Charting basics; SOAP charting; Universal Precautions; Familiarity of prenatal bag and setting up Birth room & equipment; Resources for expanded knowledge and handouts given.

In Person: Please park on the road and walk up the driveway. Come around to back side of the home to brown door by the fountain. Please join Zoom by 5:50 pm so I can get you on the Zoom call previous to starting the course. The class will be recorded.Reviews
